If you’ve been on TikTok this week, you’ve seen users practically beg people to use sunscreen. I’m here to tell you about the importance of applying SPF every day, why you needed to start wearing it yesterday, and the best sunscreens on the market right now.
Wearing sunscreen daily has incredible benefits; the most notable being anti-aging. Sunscreen is the single best protection against fine lines and wrinkles. Applying sunscreen once a day helps rejuvenate and soften the skin, and it is especially important here in Florida where we have strong UV rays. Other important benefits of sunscreen include lowering your risk of developing melanoma, prevents sun damage, prevents hyperpigmentation of the skin, and keeps your complexion even.
The best time to start wearing sunscreen is right now. It's never too late to start, but it's better to start now to get the full effects of SPF’s antiaging properties. Dermatologists recommend SPF 30 or higher at least once a day, but if you can apply it twice a day- even better.
One of my favorite sunscreens is Glossier’s Invisible Shield Sunscreen SPF 35+ which retails for $25.00. The product can be found on Glossier’s website. This sunscreen is great on top of your moisturizer, and it doesn’t leave any sticky or shiny residue that a lot of sunscreens have.
Another great sunscreen is the Sunforgettable Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen Brush. This product retails for $65.00 and can be found on Amazon. Although it's a little bit on the pricier side, it’s worth the investment. The best part about this product is its powder form. If you’re wearing makeup, you take the brush and dip it into the powder and lightly dust it all over your face. This product is great for reapplying and doesn’t leave a white cast or ruin your makeup.
For a cheaper option, a great sunscreen is the Cerave SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen. It retails for $13.99 on Amazon, Target, Ulta, and Walmart. The formula is great for applying after your moisturizer and under your makeup. It's also non-greasy, which is always a good plus.
Thanks for reading this weeks beauty article- can't wait to see you guys next week!

While some people like full glam looks, others prefer a minimal style. However, everyone wants healthy, glowing skin, underneath their makeup or to showcase on its own. Taking care of your skin is a must, especially with Tallahassee’s cold weather. If you don’t take care of your skin when the temperature is dropping, your skin could become dry and peel. Here are a few tips to get your skin glowing like Zendaya’s.
During COVID-19, there has been a trend of reaching for skincare instead of makeup. Kelsey Simone and Margot Lee are two Instagram influencers who are following behind “skinimalism”. Kelsey advertises the importance of moisturizing while Margot expresses her love for exfoliating. Both girls support and advertise Sephora’s clean affordable skincare collection (which I also love).
Two of my favorite skincare products to achieve glowing skin from the line include:
Besides hydrating the skin through a moisturizer or revamping radiance through a vitamin C and E serum, your daily actions affect your skin. Your stress levels, hormones, and what you eat are huge benefactors to your skin’s overall appearance. According to The Dermstore’s blog post “Why Is Self-Care Important? Plus, 9 Ways to Do It Like a Pro.”, taking the time to create a self-care routine and practicing it daily, “reduces stress, increases energy throughout the day, adds higher levels of productivity, and enhances intuition and emotional awareness” (Kaitlyn Willow). Taking care of yourself will help lead to radiant skin that you can embrace.
So, clean your makeup brushes, sleep well, and don’t forget to drink your 8 glasses of water to maintain refreshed skin from within! See you next week!

Happy 2021 everyone! With a new year, comes new year resolutions and I would love to know some of yours in the comments! New Year Resolutions can range from working out more, focusing on self-growth, or saving money on a vacation (when COVID is gone, of course). One of my New Year resolutions is to spice up my hairstyles! My go-to hairstyles are leaving my hair down, or a ponytail with my side bangs pulled out.
Doing something funky with your hairstyle can help express your own style and personality. Hairstyles truly bring an outfit together and make an individual look presentable and fabulous! I have been doing some research and I noticed that a BUNCH of trendy, spicy, and adorable hairstyles have been popping off on Instagram, Pinterest, and Tumblr. Here are some of my favs!
This hairstyle is perfect if you are looking to spice up any outfit! Bubble Pigtails were extremely popular in 2020, but I definitely think it will continue to be a trend for 2021.
claw clips (mini-large)
As if! This hairstyle fits the 90’s-early 2000’s vibe perfectly! I’m a huge fan of the large claw clip for a simple, messy, yet put together hairstyle.
Face framing baby braids
I’m in love with this hairstyle because not only does it frame your face, it works with your hair down or in an updo. Obsessed!
Can’t wait to see you baddies rock these hairstyles! Comment your favorite hairstyles below or say any that I may have left out. See you next week!

If you’ve been on Instagram lately, you’ve probably seen some crazy nail designs. It’s clear to see that no longer are the days where you got just a simple colored manicure and call it a day. This doesn’t only go for women; many men are incorporating nail designs to their own personal style as well. Where did the inspiration to do something different with your manicure come from? The fun nail designs we’re seeing lately could be a result of lockdown. During that period of time, we all had to make do with doing our nails at home. I know this to be true for me at least. Doing my own nails at home was not working out for me. It would peel off the next day, it would be sloppy and just not as fun. Of course, during lockdown, I spent a lot of time on Pinterest and Instagram, which is where I found a lot of cute nail designs and continue to find some.
Once nail salons opened up in my hometown, I ran to get a manicure. Filled with excitement, I decided to try one out. I went for a pink nail with pink smiley faces, as pictured. Tons of people gave me compliments on them and it really made me feel put together after so many months of feeling like a mess.
Doing something funky with your nails can help you express your own personality and style. Like makeup, having your nails done really completes an outfit. Makeup, accessories, and clothes are the typical way we express ourselves, however, having different nail designs is the new way to do this. Playing around with colors and designs you find online can be really fun and something to look forward to. Another fun thing about playing around with nails is doing them to match up with the seasons as well; since Thanksgiving was coming up, I decided to do fall colored tips. I wouldn’t normally add brown to a manicure color pallet, but it was fun to try something different and outside of my comfort zone.
For the Christmas season, I plan on doing the fun green squiggly design as pictured. I loved this design because I thought it was really different than your typical red Christmas manicure. I would have never strayed outside of solid color manicures years ago but trying new things can be loads of fun.
If you’re into cool nails as much as I am, how are you going to try out this beauty trend?
