sunscreen: the next viral beauty Craze

By alexandra dAbage

If you’ve been on TikTok this week, you’ve seen users practically beg people to use sunscreen. I’m here to tell you about the importance of applying SPF every day, why you needed to start wearing it yesterday, and the best sunscreens on the market right now.
Wearing sunscreen daily has incredible benefits; the most notable being anti-aging. Sunscreen is the single best protection against fine lines and wrinkles. Applying sunscreen once a day helps rejuvenate and soften the skin, and it is especially important here in Florida where we have strong UV rays. Other important benefits of sunscreen include lowering your risk of developing melanoma, prevents sun damage, prevents hyperpigmentation of the skin, and keeps your complexion even.
The best time to start wearing sunscreen is right now. It's never too late to start, but it's better to start now to get the full effects of SPF’s antiaging properties. Dermatologists recommend SPF 30 or higher at least once a day, but if you can apply it twice a day- even better.
One of my favorite sunscreens is Glossier’s Invisible Shield Sunscreen SPF 35+ which retails for $25.00. The product can be found on Glossier’s website. This sunscreen is great on top of your moisturizer, and it doesn’t leave any sticky or shiny residue that a lot of sunscreens have.

Another great sunscreen is the Sunforgettable Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen Brush. This product retails for $65.00 and can be found on Amazon. Although it's a little bit on the pricier side, it’s worth the investment. The best part about this product is its powder form. If you’re wearing makeup, you take the brush and dip it into the powder and lightly dust it all over your face. This product is great for reapplying and doesn’t leave a white cast or ruin your makeup.

For a cheaper option, a great sunscreen is the Cerave SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen. It retails for $13.99 on Amazon, Target, Ulta, and Walmart. The formula is great for applying after your moisturizer and under your makeup. It's also non-greasy, which is always a good plus.
