Different ways to style a bandana

By bianca fertig

Over the last few years, bandanas have become more versatile as new ways to wear them are being created. People began to repurpose an already existing item into an item that can do so much more than originally intended. Also, bandanas can be found in almost any print or shade now, not just the original red paisley!

Ten different ways a bandana can be worn include as a regular bandana, a flat headband, a headband with a bow on the top, a necklace, a choker, a belt, a sarong/bathing suit cover-up, a shirt, hung on a bag, and of course, in 2020 fashion, as a face mask.

I am going to show how to turn a bandana into a headband!

Step 1. Lay it down onto a blank surface.

Step 2. Fold the bandana in half diagonally

Step 3. From the bottom point, fold it up between .5-1 inch (your desired size) and continue folding until it looks like a straight line

Step 4. Carefully make it into a circle and tie a knot. It will most likely expand a little in size when tying the knot which can be shown in the pictures for step 2 and 3, however, if it expands too much, it can be folded easily after being tied.

And you can wear it now! You can slide it on and if you need to adjust the size, whether it is too tight or too loose, you can retie it on your head for the perfect fit. You can also add or decrease a fold if you want it bigger or smaller.
Besides as a flat headband, there are also other options on how to wear the bandana following those exact steps. The headband can be flipped and worn with a bow tie at the top or even worn as a choker around the neck to further accessorize.

I can’t wait to see you guys try this out, and make sure to share it with us if you do! See you soon!
