This easy recipe will make you question why you didn’t start drinking matcha sooner!

Matcha is a powder made from ground up green tea leaves. Traditionally enjoyed in East Asia, this powder is whisked into hot water to form a vibrant green beverage. Consuming matcha powder also comes with health benefits because the leaves are packed with antioxidants. Matcha has a slightly bitter taste on its own, but combining it with your favorite dairy alternative and sweetener creates a delightful beverage to enjoy in the springtime.
The key to a great iced matcha latte is a handheld milk frother. Because matcha powder is so fine, it clumps up quite easily. I recently bought a milk frother and it makes preparing lattes so much easier and enjoyable. Here’s a link to one you can buy:
Once you acquire a mini whisk or a milk frother, the recipe is a breeze
What you’ll need:
1.5 grams of matcha powder (I use packets sold at Trader Joe’s)
1-2 tablespoons of hot water
1 cup of oat milk (or whatever milk you drink)
Brown sugar to taste
Optional: vanilla, coconut, or lavender extract for extra flavor
One handheld milk frother or mini whisk
Add the matcha powder to your preferred mug or glass. Pour in the hot water and whisk the ingredients together until the matcha is evenly mixed. Add the sugar and optional flavor to the mix and whisk again. Pour in the oat milk and combine until a light green shade is achieved. Add ice cubes and enjoy!
Once you find your perfect matcha-oat milk ratio, you’ll be making lattes all the time and wondering why you ever spent 5 dollars on one at Starbucks. See you next week!
