Fast fashion has taken over the fashion industry. And along with it, a culture of buying more and throwing away more clothing than ever before. However, the recent movement towards a more sustainable fashion industry has influenced even the biggest fast fashion companies. This is definitely a positive step in the right direction; companies and consumers are becoming more aware of how their clothing choices impact the environment. Yet there is a growing issue of greenwashing and green sheen across the industry.
Greenwashing, also known as green sheen, is when brands prevent false or misleading information regarding the environmental impact of their products. It can be extremely difficult to determine what is actually green and what is just green sheen. So before you pick up that dress with a green tag, make sure it’s eco claims are true.
Walking into an H&M store, you see lots of green tags hanging from clothing. Get a closer look and you see that it says 50% recycled or 30% organic cotton. This makes it seem like this particular garment is a better, more conscious choice. But is that really the case? The H&M Conscious Collection draws attention away from how the company is harming the environment. While some of their clothing uses materials that are sustainably sourced, the company still produces an insanely large amount of clothing that is meant to be worn a few times and then thrown into a growing landfill. Additionally, H&M’s clothing recycling program is another good solution to fast fashion waste production, yet the program only recycles a small percentage of the clothing. Overall, H&M is doing something to increase sustainability, but it is not enough.
Zara is another top fast fashion company that boasts how they can put new products on the floor in as little as sixteen days. This just means more disposable clothing to be purchased and eventually put in a landfill. Zara has a collection called Join Life, where the clothing is primarily made of sustainably sourced or recycled materials and manufactured using green technologies of Inditex, Zara’s parent company. Again, just like H&M, this is a step in the right direction. But it is urgent that the fashion industry make bigger changes at a faster rate. Sustainability needs to be at the forefront of every company’s mission and values in order to see real and necessary change.
The next time you’re out shopping, stop and check if the environmental claims on the tags are actually true. Need some help figuring out what’s sustainable and what’s not? Check out Remake’s Brand Directory that evaluates brands’ claims and helps consumers make more informed decisions.

There’s something about changing your hair completely that I love. After having it really long for a while, I decided it was time for a change. So, this past week I went to my hairdresser to cut my hair pretty short. I cut it a bit shorter than I’m used to, but honestly, I’m so glad I did. I was inspired by Bella Hadid to get this style of cut because her hair always looks amazing.
It feels so good to make a change every now and then, even if it’s just a haircut. It’s these things that make life simple. Not only is it a nice feeling, but my hair routine has become significantly easier to do now that I have shorter hair. It’s easier to wash, blow-dry, and style it. I also love that having mid length, collar bone length hair allows me to still be able to follow cute hair trends such as claw clips and slicked back hair. If you’re considering getting a chop for the summer, you should try it! At the end of the day, it’s just hair and it grows back. It can completely change up your look and be a nice refresh for the summer.
Comment down below if you’re considering chopping your hair! I’ll share some inspo pics :)

Depop is all the rage right now. Going to thrift stores is a fun experience, but recently, I’ve been into Depop. Sometimes it feels like you’re playing a video game. It can be hard to find things because people tend to overprice thrifted pieces and you have to really dig to find the goodies. I’ve seen some T-Shirts selling for $50, which is pretty pricey for a thrifted piece. This does tend to be an issue people have with Depop at the moment; but if you keep searching, you can find cute reasonably priced things. I’ve been on the hunt for fun tops, kitten heels, or one of a kind funky pants right now. Luckily, there’s tons of shops where you can find some super unique pieces for a low price. Some shops to look out for are @abelyn, @virgovtg, @zebalazoe, @illusionvintage, @soofpoo, and @bellavrana. I think Depop is a cool way to support small businesses and shop sustainably. It’s also fun to be able to have a one-of-a-kind piece that no one else can rock, but you! I’ll add some of my recent finds down below and some pieces I’ve got my eyes on.
These are the most recent things I’ve gotten on Depop, I’m obsessed with them!!
Kitten heels: @zabalazoe
Betty Boop Tee: @savannahmckean
Brown Tank: @soofpoo
Here are the pieces I’ve been having my eye on!! I’m obsessed with these finds.
New York Shirt: @juliavoelk
Mudd Heels: @darlingdut
Cheetah Print Pants: @throwbacksvintage
Let me know if you end up shopping on Depop and what you get!

Here at Florida State, us students do not have a Spring Break or any Wellness days this semester. It can be extremely exhausting and emotionally draining to consecutively complete assignments for multiple classes for 16 weeks straight. Because we don’t have time off excluding weekends, I find it extremely important to make time for one’s well-being and complete fun activities in Tallahassee with yourself or friends!
If you ever want to take a beautiful walk, have a picnic with your friends, or just vibe by yourself with beautiful scenery, Cascades Park is the place to go! I could spend hours here!
This one is strictly a given, but Landis Green on campus is one of my favorite spots to chill, hang out with friends, and study on a gorgeous day. There is always some event occurring on Landis, so it is never boring!
RAILROAD SQUARE ART DISTRICT
Railroad Square Art District is Tallahassee's arts, culture and entertainment district located at the heart of the town. Hosting more than 50 art studios, galleries & small shops, a brewery, dance studio, restaurant, cafe, rock climbing gym and more!
One of my favorite past times is thrifting some unique and cool pieces at local thrift stores. Some of my favorites are:
- The Other Side Vintage
- City Walk Urban Mission
- The Living Harvest
- SAVVY SALVAGE THRIFT
Coming from a South Floridian, being able to live in a new ton that is close to different states is so exciting to me. With Tallahassee’s location, Southern Georgia is only a 45-minute drive! Thomasville is a perfect day trip to explore a new state with boutiques, restaurants, and bars. If you go, I highly recommend Jonah’s Fish & Grits. You won’t regret it.

âBillie Eilish is known for her music, streetstyle, and colored hairstyles, especially her signature neon green and black ombre look sheâs had since 2019. However, fans have been wondering for months if Billie started wearing a wig and would compare her current hair to her âreal hairâ. After months of speculation, Billie confirmed her fans suspensions through her Tik Tok by pulling up a wig, and Instagram by showing off her blonde hair.
âIâm all for her new hair color. It looks amazing on her. Her Hannah Montana moment was deemed a success. Billieâs Instagram photo with her new blonde hair broke a record by receiving one million likes in six minutes. What do you think about Billieâs blonde hair? Also, like Billie, do you want to dye your hair before the summer?
Sustainable, inclusive activewear at a better price point

When taking a stroll around FSU campus, you’re bound to spot several students sporting their Lululemon leggings on their way to class or to the gym. You might even own a pair or two. Lululemon has grown a massive cult following, especially among college students. However, they have a new competitor in their market called Girlfriend Collective. Offering sustainable activewear in trendy colors and a great size range, Girlfriend Collective is quickly building their own following of loyal customers.
Girlfriend Collective products are made with certified fair labor, recycled polyester, and low-impact non-toxic dyes. On the other hand, Lululemon has promised to reduce their carbon footprint; however, they haven’t launched any initiatives to make an actual difference.
Girlfriend Collective is not only environmentally conscious, but it is also very inclusive. They launched their line For Everyone that caters to people of all genders. With a size range from 2XS-6XL, Girlfriend is setting a good example of what standards all apparel brands should follow in 2021.
While Lululemon is a renowned brand for its lifestyle marketing and high-quality products, Girlfriend Collective is definitely worth browsing for comfortable and trendy activewear. With spring and summer right around the corner, investing in a Girlfriend set is the perfect way to refresh your warmer weather wardrobe. See you all next week!

The 90s vibes are coming back in full force: including phone charms!
Phone charms are popping up again after being so popular in the late 1990’s. I recently saw them make a comeback on my fav, Devon Lee Carlson, but I feel like they are everywhere now. They really add a new level of fun and customization to your phone, and I think they can be so cute. In the 90s, phone charms were used just as decoration. Unlike the 90s, these current phone charms are actually super useful. They function as a little wristlet, so you never have to worry about dropping your phone again. There are plenty of great options you can buy online, but they’re also a fun DIY you can do too. By making it yourself, you can really customize it to your personality and make sure it fits your look the best. If you don’t want to go the DIY route, there are a bunch of Etsy shops that will make them for you at a decent price, and many of them still offer customization. Overall, I think these phone charms are such a creative and fun way to accessorize.
Let me know if you end up getting one or DIY’ing it!!

Everyone wants to know how they can decrease their environmental impact, but they also don’t want to give up anything. This is impossible; to make a positive impact on the environment, sacrifices have to be made. By choosing a plant-based, or vegan, lifestyle you could decrease your carbon footprint by 73%. Additionally, cutting out animal products has numerous health benefits. If you still aren’t convinced here are some quick reasons why you should go vegan:
- Livestock farming accounts for 18% of greenhouse gas emissions.
- 90% of water consumption is due to agriculture.
- Eating plant-based takes up ⅓ the amount of land that is needed to support a diet with meat and dairy.
- You can save the lives of 200 animals per year.
- You can reduce your risk of developing type II diabetes, cancer, heart disease, etc.
- Going vegan can help improve weight loss.
- Eating vegan is more humane and doesn’t support poor treatment of livestock animals.
Going vegan doesn’t have to be difficult. Instead of focusing on what you cannot eat, focus on what you can eat: fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes. Being vegan forces you to be more aware of what you put into your body, which is why veganism is great for the planet’s health and your health.
Getting started can be a big leap to take, but there are so many resources available for you to learn more about veganism.
I hope this inspires you to go vegan and eat more plants!

Amazon has been around for 2 and a half decades and is emerged to be the biggest online company in the United States. Amazon is the most popular American internet sales company and has truly dominated the e-commerce world. During quarantine and the pandemic, Amazon thrived like never before because individuals were sitting at home online shopping. This led to many young individuals switching over to Amazon to find trendy, cool, and unique clothing items to wear once quarantine was over.
Amazon Fashion is so popular that retailers such as JCPenney have filed for bankruptcy due to the high competition! Who knew an online bookstore in 1995 would develop into the biggest online sales company! Amazon is truly the greatest “everything” store one can possibly think of. From personal experience, moving from my childhood home to my college apartment during a pandemic, Amazon was my one stop shop for room décor, furniture, etc.
With the rise of social media, Amazon has been everyone’s go-to one stop shop for everything fashion related! I’ve seen so many videos about Amazon having high quality dupes from popular retailers such as Princess Polly, Urban Outfitters, etc. Here are some of my favorite Amazon Fashion finds that are currently in my shopping cart!
Comment below or tag us on Instagram, @cma_fsu, if you purchased any of these hot finds! Happy online shopping and see you next week!
