how celebs spent their valentines day in a pandemic

by gaby sicardi

Valentine’s Day is looking a little different this year…. With COVID-19 affecting everyone’s life, it’s a little difficult to celebrate holidays with your loved ones. This would be the 1st Valentine’s Day spent in the COVID-19 pandemic which totally effects the usual lavish plans on this special day.
I don’t know if it’s because I’m a noisy person or because I’m fully invested in celebrities’ personal lives, but I was very curious on how celebrities were celebrating ~the day of love~ by themselves or with their significant other. Celebrities are known to throw lavish, extraordinary, and romantic surprises for their significant other on Valentine’s Day, so I was curious on how they would pull these lavish surprises off during a pandemic.

How cute are these two??? Devon and Jesse are definitely one of my favorite couples in Hollywood, and they had the cutest night on Sunday. Jesse Rutherford, the lead singer of the band The Neighborhood, surprised Devon Lee Carlson with a romantic dinner at home filled with wine, dinner, and crayons to draw on their placemats! This was truly an adorable, intimate, and romantic way to spend Valentine’s Day with your loved one at home. Rumor has it he proposed on Sunday because he captioned a picture on Instagram “she said yes.” We hope you did propose, Jesse!

Another OTP (One True Pairing) of Hollywood, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend spent Valentine’s Day relaxing at home with their children. After the sad year both Chrissy Teigen and John Legend had after suffering a miscarriage during Chrissy’s 20th week of pregnancy with their son Jack, I expected nothing less for them to lay low, enjoy each other’s company, and have a simple yet romantic Valentine’s Day. I mean look at those heart shaped pancakes… Doesn’t get more romantic than that!

Hailey Bieber spent her Sunday watching her husband, Justin Bieber, on TikTok live performing his hit songs from his 2013 popular album titled Journals. As a Beleiber for 12+ years, this is how I spent my Valentines’ Day and his performance was truly amazing and nostalgic. After his performance, Hailey and Justin Bieber had a romantic, simple, and laid-back dinner with sushi! I love these two!

I genuinely cannot wait for these two to tie the knot! This couples love is so transparent, and you can just tell that they adore each other immensely. Alex Rodriguez, former New York Yankees Baseball player, surprised his fiancé pop icon Jennifer Lopez with a massive bouquet of red roses with heart felt balloons attached to the bouquet. Later in the night, the couple shared an intimate dinner with cocktails, roses, and delicious food. What a beautiful way to spend this love filled day!

I absolutely adore this couple and their new baby! Ever since Khai Malik was born, the couple have been under the radar and focused on their little family at home. It was no surprise to me to see the family spending their 1st Valentine’s Day with Khai at home, making homemade pizza, and spending quality time together. Gigi, send us some leftovers please!
It seems most celebrities followed CDC guidelines and stayed home this Valentine’s Day. This is a great example to show their followers that you can still celebrate the day of love lavishly, but also safely following CDC guidelines in order to minimize the spread of COVID. I would love to know what you all did for Valentine’s Day this year despite celebrating it in a pandemic. See you all next week!
