these limited release sneakers contain a drop of human blood in the soles!

Lil Nas X collabed with MSCHF on a satanic themed Nike Air Max 97 sneaker. The 666 pairs of sneakers sold out in minutes, each retailing for $1018. The shoes featured a black and blood red design which had a pentagram pendant and the lines “666” and “Luke 10:18” printed in red.
MSCHF is an art collective based in New York that sells very random viral products that create a sense of nonsensical chaos. The shoes were sold on MSCHF’s website mschf.xyz under a page dedicated to the release. Although they sold out, there is one remaining pair of sneakers that are being given away on April 1st.
Chaos certainly did ensue after the release of these shoes, and Lil Nas received a lot of criticism for the release of the shoes along with his music video for his new song titled “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” In response to the backlash, the musician released a mock apology video in which he cuts quickly to a clip of him giving a lap dance to Satan in his music video. Aside from Lil Nas X, MSCHF is under legal heat because Nike has decided to sue them for trademark infringement and diluting their brand image.
Aside from the controversy, the shoes are incredibly unique and gaining a lot of positive attention. The overall concept for this release is directly tied to the theme of his new song, which expresses sexual liberation and empowerment.
